God-Size Success Part 4

Christ’s followers have been redeemed for service. Our Lord teaches that the true object of life is ministry. Christ Himself was a worker, and to all His followers He gives the law of service–service to God and to their fellow men. Here Christ has presented to the world a higher conception of life than they had ever known. By living to minister for others, man is brought into connection with Christ. The law of service becomes the connecting link which binds us to God and to our fellow men.  {COL 326.3}  To His servants Christ commits “His goods”–something to be put to use for Him. He gives “to every man his work.” Each has his place in the eternal plan of heaven. Each is to work in co-operation with Christ for the salvation of souls. Not more surely is the place prepared for us in the heavenly mansions than is the special place designated on earth where we are to work for God {COL 326.4}. Christ’s Object Lessons p.326&327

This quote taken from the book, Christ’s Object Lessons, and explains why Jesus said:

13:34 [For the Son of man is] as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch.   13:35 Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning:  13:36 Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping.  13:37 And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch. Mark 13:34-37 (Emphasis supplied).

Jesus tells us here that God has a special place designated on earth where we are to work for God. In order to find that special place we must have the ministry mindset because God gives the authority and the assignment to those who are his servants (v.34): Meaning, those who serve Him and Him only 24/7 (see Matthew 6:24-34).

That special place that God has for us is where we will find God-size success: This brings me to the first of three powerful principles that apply to those who live with ministry mindset. Notice what we are told in Romans 8:28:

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his] purpose. (Emphasis supplied).

The first thing we need to understand about living with ministry mindset is that it makes us invincible and unstoppable because it guarantees that everything that happens to us will work for our good: It guarantees that because it puts in agreement with God’s purpose: Which is to serve Him 24/7. The ministry mindset is what connects us to God and allows the Holy Spirit to order our steps (Psalms 37:23). This is why we are told in Ephesians 2:10:

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. (Emphasis supplied).

In summary, the key to having ministry mindset is abiding in Jesus through daily surrender of our will. Then we live by the faith of Jesus which causes us to take no thought for our lives and seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness (see Galatians 2:20 & Matthew 6:24-34). It is this mindset that guarantees that everything that God allows to happen to us is preordained to work for our good because it will accomplish His purpose for our lives. Therefore, as long as we abide in Jesus, we will have ministry mindset: As long as we have ministry mindset we will be in agreement with God’s purpose for our lives: As long as we are in agreement with God’s purpose for our lives we are guaranteed to experience God-size success because God has already ordained that everything He allows to happen in our lives will only work to accomplish His purpose for our lives.

This is the first of the three important principles of living with ministry mindset. When we understand and live by this principle the only question we need to concern ourselves with daily is this:

Have I surrendered my will to Jesus today: Have I laid all my plans at His feet to be carried out or given up as His providence shall indicate: Am I in agreement with God’s purpose for my life today?

Next week I am going to deal with the second important principle of living with ministry mindset. Until then I leave you with this portion of scripture to ponder and pray over:

3:23 And whatsoever ye do, do [it] heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;  3:24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. Colossians 3:23&24 (Emphasis supplied).
