2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God: 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:8-10 (Emphasis supplied).
Ephesians 2:8-10 expresses the essence of the gospel which is based on the principle from which all biblical truth flows. That principle is:
It has been Satan’s mission to do away with that principle by implanting the principle from which all lies flow. That principle is:
Man can save himself by his own works.
At first Satan tried to do away with the principle of truth by persecuting God’s people. But that plan backfired because it only caused God’s people to depend on God more. It made them realized that God was their only hope of survival. Out of much frustration Satan came to understand that the most effective way to do away with the principle of truth and get the whole world to live by the erroneous principle that man can save himself by his own works was to pervert the commandment that reminds us that we are to live by the principle of truth 24/7. That commandment is the 4th commandment (see Exodus 20:8).
Satan also realized that in order to pervert the 4th commandment he had to use subtlety. Therefore, Satan did not say, you cannot worship God because that lie is too blatant. Instead Satan said:
You can live righteously by worshiping God and mammon.
This lie has proven to be more effective than all the persecutions and killings that Satan has used to keep God’s people from living by the principle: JESUS SAVES. It is because of this that the present truth gospel for this generation starts this way:
14:6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, 14:7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. Revelation 14:7 (Emphasis supplied).
Notice that the present truth for the generation that is called to preach the everlasting gospel to every nation is a call to worship the God of creation and Him alone. The reason given for this call to worship God alone is that Jesus is doing the saving work of judgment and in order to benefit from Jesus’ saving work we must have only one fear and one purpose: The one fear is that we will not cooperate with Jesus’ saving work of judgment and therefore, not accomplish our single purpose for living, which is: To reflect the loving character of God in our lives (see Matthew 5:13-16 & I Peter 2: 9-12).
Those who heed this call will began to keep the 4th commandment as God intended and be ready to receive the second call or part of present truth. Those who do not heed this call and continue to try to worship God and mammon will not be ready to receive the second call: Which is:
And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication. Revelation 14:8 (see also Revelation 18:1-4).
In my next blog I am going began discussing the second call/part of the present truth gospel for this generation and show why those who do not heed the first part cannot heed the second part. Until then I leave you with this scripture to ponder and pray over:
17:24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; 17:25 Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things; … 17:28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring. 17:29 Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device. 17:30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: 17:31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by [that] man whom he hath ordained; [whereof] he hath given assurance unto all [men], in that he hath raised him from the dead. Acts 17:24-25 &28-31 (Emphasis supplied).
