6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. 6:31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 6:32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:24-33
As I have said repeatedly, we either serve/worship God 24/7 or we serve/worship mammon (money) 24/7. Those who serve God will use all their time and strength seeking the kingdom and righteousness of God because they walk by faith in God’s promise to supply all they need to be happy and complete (see v. 33 & Psalms 37:3-7): Those who serve/worship mammon will use all their time and strength seeking to earn money because they do not believe that God will supply all they need to be happy and complete (see Colossians 2:8-10).
Only those who those worship God 24/7 will live by the truth:
But godliness with contentment is great gain. I Timothy 6:6
Those who do not worship God 24/7 will live by the lie:
Gain is godliness. I Timothy 6:5
I say this because those who do not believe in God’s promise to supply all their needs have been deceived into believing that money will supply these things. Therefore, they do not believe the love and pursuit of money is the root of all evil (see I Timothy 6:10): They believe it is the resource we need to get all the things necessary to survive and be happy on earth.
Those who believe this way have to believe that gain is godliness because they cannot understand how one can survive and be content by spending all their time and strength pursuing God’s righteousness.
This is why we are told that those who worship the beast will not only receive his mark in the forehead (which denotes their belief), they will also receive the mark in their right hand (which denotes their strength). In other words, those who worship the beast will receive his mark in their right hand because in order to earn money they must depend on their strength to work. On the contrary, those who worship God will only receive His seal in their foreheads because what they believe (their faith) causes them to depend fully on God’s promise to supply all they need to be happy and content. Therefore, they do not get God’s seal in their right hand because His service only requires their faith (what they believe in the forehead) and not their works (the strength of the right hand) (See Ephesians 2:8-10). In my next blog I am going to deal with the meaning of the number 666. Until then I leave you with this scripture to ponder and pray over:
13:15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. 13:16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: 13:17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. 13:18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number [is] Six hundred threescore [and] six. Revelation 13:15-18
