6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. 6:8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. 6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. Galatians 6:7-9 (Emphasis supplied).
In Galatians 6:7-9 Paul summarizes what Jesus said in Matthew 6:24-34. Both Jesus and Paul tell us that life is about service (worship) to God or mammon. Those who worship mammon sow to the flesh 24/7, those who worship God sow to the Spirit 24/7. Those who sow to the flesh depend on mammon to supply their needs and desires, those who sow to the Spirit depend on God to supply their needs and desires (see Matthew 6:31 & Psalms 37:3-7). Those who depend on mammon to supply their needs and desires will reap corruption because they walk in the power of the flesh 24/7, those who depend on God to supply their needs and desires will reap everlasting life because they walk in the power of the Spirit of God 24/7. Those who walk in the power of the Spirit 24/7 will reject the lie that gain is godliness and pursue righteousness: Those who walk in the power of the flesh 24/7 will be deceived by the lie that gain is godliness and pursue riches. We either do one or the other, there is no middle ground.
The 4th commandment was given to ensure that we worship God 24/7 by demanding that we sow to the Spirit 24/7. Those who truly keep it the way God intends will Remember the Sabbath to keep it holy because they only do the work of faith and sow to the Spirit. Therefore, they are able to say:
2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. 2:21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness [come] by the law, then Christ is dead in vain. Galatians 2:20 & 21 (Emphasis supplied).
In other words, when we keep the 4th commandment we will only do one work and that work will result in Jesus doing the works of God in us and through us (see John 6:27-29). This is why Jesus said:
11:28 Come unto me, all [ye] that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 11:30 For my yoke [is] easy, and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30 (Emphasis supplied).
Those who please God and walk by faith, take up their cross daily so they can say, I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God.
In my next blog I am going to show why keeping the 4th commandment is the key to receiving the seal of God. Until then I leave you with this scripture to ponder and pray over:
Here is the patience of the saints: here [are] they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. Revelation 14:12 (Emphasis supplied).
