14:6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, 14:7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. Revelation 14:6&7 (Emphasis supplied).
Last week I stated that the first part of present truth for this generation is, for the hour of his judgment is come: (Read Present Truth Part 2 for an explanation of why I say this): This is the first part of a three part message found in Revelation 14:6-12.This three part message constitutes the final installment of present truth which will finish the mystery of God, put an end to sin and start the eternal reign of Jesus Christ on the earth made new (see Matthew 24:14,Revelation 10:7 &11:15 & Revelation 21:1-5). This week I will explain why the message of God’s judgment qualifies as being part of the present truth for this generation.
First, Revelation 14:6 sets the stage by saying two things:
- That it is the everlasting gospel.
- That it will be preached to every nation, kindred, tongue, and people.
The fact that it is part of the everlasting gospel makes it present truth: The fact that it will be preached to the whole world makes it the final installment of present truth. I say this because in Matthew 24:14 Jesus said:
And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. (Emphasis supplied).
Now I will explain why the message of God’s judgment qualifies to be called the final installment of the everlasting gospel.
The everlasting gospel can be summed up in two words: JESUS SAVES. The entire Bible is a history of what Jesus has done in the past, is doing in the present, and will do in the future to redeem sinful mankind from sin (see John 5:38-40). Each revelation of what Jesus is doing to save is present truth. It reveals to that generation what Jesus is doing at that present time to save. The generation or generations that lived before that time were not held accountable for this truth because it had not been revealed to them. They were only held accountable to the truths that had been revealed to them, both past and present.
Therefore, each generation is determined by the revelation of present truth which tells that generation what Jesus is doing at the present time to save. The more present truth is revealed the more the everlasting gospel is understood and lived out: The more the everlasting gospel is understood and lived out the more the mystery of God is finished (see Revelation 10:7).
Revelation 14:6&7 tells us that the message of God’s judgment is the final installment of present truth to the everlasting gospel. Therefore, it tells those of us who are living in the time when the gospel is being preached in all the world what Jesus is doing right now to save this generation. In other words, the gospel for today is:
… the hour of his judgment is come.
Next week we are going to look at what this tells us about what Jesus is doing to save this generation.
