Present Truth Part 42

14:9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive [his] mark in his forehead, or in his hand,  14:10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:  14:11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.  14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here [are] they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. Revelation 14:9-12 (Emphasis supplied).

The first two messages were given for the express purpose of preparing God’s people for the 3rd angel’s message. The 3rd angel’s message is a call to stand true to God against Satan’s final attempt to overcome God’s remnant people (see Revelation 12:17). Through the wine of Babylon Satan had been successful in deceiving the whole world into worshiping Him without realizing that they were (Please read Revelation 13:4-14). Satan had especially felt good about the fact that he had been successful in getting God’s most faithful followers to live by the lie, gain is godliness (read last week’s blog (#41) if you missed it or need to refresh your memory concerning what I said about this lie).

However, what Satan failed to realize is what God inspired the apostle Paul to write in II Thessalonians 2:7-10 saying:

2:7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth [will let], until he be taken out of the way.  2:8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:  2:9 [Even him], whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,  2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. (Emphasis supplied).

Satan did not catch God unaware. God knew that Satan would use the man of sin to cause the whole world to fall away from the truth and wonder after the beast, even His most faithful followers (Please read II Thessalonians 2:1-6). However, God’s faithful followers were not deceived because they loved the lie (the wine of Babylon), they were deceived because they had not heard or fully understood the final installment to the everlasting gospel which would be preached just before the 2nd coming of Jesus: Who would put an end to sin, Satan and all who loved the lie that is the root of all lies (see I Timothy 6:10).

This is why Revelation 14:6 reads:

And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,  (Emphasis supplied).

That truth when preached in its’ fullness will expose the lie of Satan and enable God’s people to come out of Babylon and worship God only 24/7: They will worship God 24/7 because they only live for one purpose in life and that purpose is to bring glory to God by reproducing and revealing His righteousness in their lives (see Revelation 14:7 and Matthew 6:24&33).

II Thessalonians 2:11&12 goes on to tell us what happens to those who reject the final installment of the everlasting gospel given by the 3 angels:

2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:  2:12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. (Emphasis supplied).

Those who do not love and embrace the truth that is revealed by the 3 angel’s messages will be deluded into believing they are still worshiping God when they receive the mark of the beast: They will be deluded because they loved the lie that results in unrighteousness more than the truth the results in righteousness (v.12). That lie is, gain is godliness (see I Timothy 6:5) and that truth is, godliness with contentment is great gain (see I Timothy 6:6).

This is why the final test is given in the way described in Revelation 13:16&17 which reads:

13:16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:  13:17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

Now what do you need to buy or sell? Of course the answer is that you need money: The more money you have the more power you have to buy and sell. Money is power because money is the god of this world. All who work for the purpose of getting money are daily being deceived into believing that gain is godliness because money makes us feel like we have the power of God. Therefore, even when we pray our prayers are not based on faith, which is the belief that God IS and is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him (see Hebrew 11:6): Our prayers are more so based on our faith in money. Here is a revealing question:

When do we worry the most? When we have enough money in our possession to meet our needs and wants or when we don’t have enough money to meet our needs and wants?

The reason we worry the most when we do not have enough money is because we trust more in money than we do God and the reason we trust more in money is because money gives us the false feeling that we have the power to do what only God can do and that is to make us complete, wanting nothing.

Now the question is this: Now that you know that trying to serve God and mammon is sin do you want to continue to live that way? If not, here is what God has to say to you:

1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.  1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.  1:10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

Next week we are going to look at how keeping the 4th commandment in accordance with the new light presented by the 1st and 2nd angel’s messages comes as a natural result of repenting and confessing the sin of trying to serve God and mammon . Until then I leave you with this portion of scripture to ponder and pray over.

17:30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:  17:31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by [that] man whom he hath ordained; [whereof] he hath given assurance unto all [men], in that he hath raised him from the dead. Acts 17:30-&31 (Emphasis supplied).
