20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. 20:9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: 20:10 But the seventh day [is] the sabbath of the LORD thy God: [in it] thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that [is] within thy gates: 20:11 For [in] six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them [is], and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. Exodus 20:8-11 (Emphasis supplied).
I ended last week’s blog by saying that when we keep the 4th commandment in its’ fullest sense we will have to do the 2 things that are necessary in order for Jesus to cleanse us from all sin and they are:
- Have unbroken fellowship with God.
- Walk in the light that comes as a result of unbroken fellowship with God.
This is exactly what we will do when we keep the 4th commandment in its’ fullest sense. The command to Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy is a command to have unbroken fellowship with God by walking in the light that God sheds as a result of our fellowship with Him (see I John 1:5-7). However, the 4th commandment has not been kept in its’ fullest sense because God’s people have been made drunk by the wine (lie) of Babylon which has led them to believe and teach that the 4th commandment allowed us to serve mammon 6 days for the purpose of gaining money as long as we stopped working for money on 1 day (be it Sunday or Saturday).
God knew that this would be the case and inspired the apostle Paul to prophesy about the falling away from truth that the man of sin would cause in II Thessalonians 2:1-4. God also inspired Paul to write about how He would expose the lie and the man of sin just prior to Jesus’ 2nd coming to destroy sin and sinners. Notice what Paul wrote concerning this in II Thessalonians 2:7-12
2:7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth [will let], until he be taken out of the way. 2:8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: 2:9 [Even him], whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 2:12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. (Emphasis supplied).
The apostle Paul tells us here that just prior to Jesus’ coming God would send truth that would expose or reveal the lie of the man of sin and those who did not accept this truth would be damned because they loved the lie of Satan more than they loved the truth of God.
All who walk in the flesh love the lie that gain is godliness because that lie allows them to think that they love and serve God when in truth they really love and serve mammon (money). This is why the prosperity gospel is so popular today. It is the strong delusion that God would allow as a result of rejecting the truth expressed in the 1st angel’s message: A truth that commands us to fear, glorify and worship God only because the hour of His judgment is come.
Satan understand clearly that the final issue is over is over worship: Those who worship Satan 24/7 will receive the mark of the beast: Those who worship God 24/7 will receive the seal of God: Those who worship Satan 24/7 will also work for mammon and therefore will continue to walk in the power of their flesh: Those who worship God 24/7 will have to cease their work for mammon and therefore will no longer walk in the power of their flesh but will began to walk in the power of the Spirit of God.
Only those who make this transition from walking in the flesh to walking in the Spirit will be ready to meet Jesus in peace because those who walk in the Spirit of God 24/7 will walk in the judgment of God which is guaranteed to cleanse us from all sin so we can be without spot and blameless (see I John 1:5-7 & II Peter 3:13-14).
Next week we are going to look at what it means to walk in the Spirit 24/7 and how this cooperates with God’s judgment which will prepare us to meet Jesus in peace, without spot and blameless. Until then I leave you with this portion of scripture to ponder and pray over:
17:28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring. 17:29 Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device. 17:30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: 17:31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by [that] man whom he hath ordained; [whereof] he hath given assurance unto all [men], in that he hath raised him from the dead. Acts 17:28-30 (Emphasis supplied).
