Before I start this blog I want to announce the fact that I now live in McDonough Ga. I moved from Cleveland Oh. this week. This is why this blog is a little late. You will soon see the updated information on my website: Surrenderpeace.org, under the Contact Us tab. Now for this week’s blog which starts with this scripture:
4:8 For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day. 4:9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. 4:10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God [did] from his. 4:11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. Hebrews 4:8-11 (Emphasis supplied).
In Galatians 2:20 Paul not only gives us the key to serving and worshiping God 24/7, he also gives us the key to entering God’s rest. It is expressed in the first phrase: He says:
I am crucified with Christ:
Paul then goes on to say:
nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me:
It is very important to note the awesome transformation that takes place as a result of being crucified with Christ. Jesus reproduces His life in Paul. Therefore, Paul can then say:
and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
Notice Paul does not say that he lives by his faith, Paul says he now lives by the faith of the Son of God: In other words, Paul is telling us that the faith we are to walk in and live by daily is not our little mustard seed faith but rather the faith of Jesus Himself!!! This is why Paul said to the believers in Philippi:
2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of [his] good pleasure. Philippians 2:12&13 (Emphasis supplied).
The only faith that pleases God and saves sinners is the faith of Jesus working in and through us to do God’s will. This is why Jesus said:
15:4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. 15:5 I am the vine, ye [are] the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. John 15:4&5 (Emphasis supplied).
Abiding is not a one-time event. Abiding is a daily activity (see Luke 9:23&24). Notice what Jesus said will happen when we do not abide in Him:
15:6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast [them] into the fire, and they are burned. 15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. 15:8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. John 15:6-8 (Emphasis supplied).
Our work is to abide in Jesus. When we do our work 24/7 God will be glorified because the world will not only see the works of God in us but they will also see the works of God through us. Again, this is why Jesus said:
6:27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed. 6:28 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? 6:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. John 6:27-29 (Emphasis supplied).
This makes it abundantly clear that the work that brings glory to the name and character of God is the work of faith, not just any faith, but the faith of Jesus. This is the work that the last generation is called to do 24/7 because this work causes us to enter God’s rest: The more we enter God’s rest the more we will worship Him: The more we worship God the more we will cooperate with Jesus’ saving work of judgment: The more we cooperate with Jesus’ saving work of judgment, the more we will fear God and give Him glory: The more we fear God and give him glory, the more this gospel shall be preached to ever nation, kindred, tongue and people. This is why the present truth gospel for today starts by saying:
14:6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, 14:7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. Revelation 14:6&7 (Emphasis supplied).
Next week I am going to deal with the commandment that requires that we only do the work of faith and worship God 24/7: The commandment that Satan fears and hates more than any other because he knows that it holds the key to God’s people living by the faith of Jesus in them and entering God’s rest. Until then I leave you with this scripture to ponder and pray over:
20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. 20:9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: 20:10 But the seventh day [is] the sabbath of the LORD thy God: [in it] thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that [is] within thy gates: 20:11 For [in] six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them [is], and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. Exodus 20:8-11 (Emphasis supplied).
